I am a believer that you don’t have to break the bank to be stylish and fashionable. There is nothing sweeter than finding something expensive for cheap. So let’s hunt for great bargain deals together and enjoy chic fashion for less.

Shopping for new set of work clothes.

A week before I started my new job, the husband had me shop for new set of work outfits. So I went to my favorite store in town, ROSS. Yes, I love to shop at Ross because they have the best deals on big brand names. I didn't know how my colleagues dress at work so I want to play it safe. I don't want to look overdressed but I don't want to look too casual either. I was lucky to find cheap tops and cardigans at Ross. I love layering because when it gets too warm I can easily take off my sweater or cardigan. Ross didn't have slacks that I like so I went to JC Penney next and checked out their pants selection. They have pretty great sale items as well but I think they are still too pricey for $32.00 a pair so I only got 3 pairs.

I have noticed that people at work like to dress very casual. Sometimes I think they are pretty much laid back for an office setting but I kinda liked it that way. I wear jeans and sneakers on Fridays, lol! Weather here in Montana can be very unpredictable so I always bring a light coat with me just in case. I really enjoy going back to work. Aside from the fact that there's something to look forward on paydays, I really love the idea of getting ready in the morning and dressing up for work. I have an excuse to shop for new clothes every weekend, haha! And that's what I have been doing. I buy at least 2 or 3 new blouses for work on Saturdays. But I try not to spend over $50.00 though and at Ross that is not difficult to achieve. I have not even gotten my full paycheck yet but I've been pampering myself already, lol! Thanks to my great financier, the hubby! I did promise to take him out to dinner when I get my first ever paycheck. I enjoy my work so much and I am really grateful for the opportunity to work again after 4 years of being a housewife and a stay at home mom.

A quest for my favorite lip color.

I don't wear make-up all the time. But I can't go out of the house without putting on some color on my lips. And I must admit I am very particular with the shade of lipstick that I use. I don't like the flashy reds, nor the deep chocolate browns that make me look too gothic. That's why I like L'oreal Endless in Extreme Spice. It has the perfect reddish brown color that complements my skin. I discovered this lipstick a few months after I migrated in the U.S., which was almost 6 years ago. So this is like my holy grail lipstick, lol! I tried other shades but I kept coming back on this one. I just love how gorgeous this color is. It is very creamy in texture while providing a slight sheen so lips don't look dry. And I love that!  It has great staying power as well. I put a little bit in the morning and it would still be visible by the end of the day. I am down to my last tube as you can see in the picture. So I went to Walmart and tried to find this same shade but guess what? L'oreal decided to discontinue their Endless line of lipstick. The ones I could find on Ebay and Amazon are ridiculously priced. They jacked up the price because they know you couldn't find it anywhere else anymore. What a disappointment! I need a new lipstick but I didn't want to pay $20 bucks for it, so I was on a mission to find my new shade of lip color.

L'oreal Endless Extreme Spice (my all-time favorite shade)

My initial attempts to replace my favorite lipstick didn't really turn out that well. I thought I could eventually develop a liking to L'oreal's Colour Riche Nature Blush so I bought two of these but the color was too light on my lips, so I  ended up giving one to my mom in the Philippines. Then came another one, Colour Riche in Spice still from L'oreal. I thought since it's named Spice, it would be similar in color with my favorite Extreme Spice. But to my total dismay, it is not! It's definitely darker than I would have liked. So this one goes to the Balikbayan box for this year.

As you can see, it still looks like new. I have only tried it once and knew right away that I wouldn't want to use it ever again, lol! You  might wonder what happened to the Nature's Blush on the right. Well, it didn't survive to the abuse of a curious 2 year old. He didn't use it on himself, thank God for that, lol! But he did smear it on our kitchen cabinets, that's why it looks like that now. Look at that mischievous smile! He probably remembered what he did to that poor lipstick, lol!

Now you might think I gave up. Oh no! Not that easily. I didn't lose any hope that someday I would be able to find a shade that could replace my favorite color. So on to the search...

As I was looking for a new toy for Caleb at K-Mart, I decided to check their cosmetics aisle to see if they have any lip color that I might like. I was excited to try Spiced Cider from their Colour Riche line. When I got home, I put them side by side to see the difference. Not quite the same color but I think it's close. The good part was when I tried it, I didn't hate it, lol! So, I guess that's a good sign. It actually has a beautiful neutral reddish, brownish, pinkish shade to it. This could definitely be my new perfect shade, but we'll see how I would feel about this color in a few days.

Here's what the color looks like. I think it's pretty. Neutral  but classy.  It smells terrific and wears wonderfully. I love how it looks on me, that's what's important. I can see myself wearing it until it's gone. So for now this is my everyday lip color.

I know this isn't a big deal but I just thought I like the design of the "Endless" tube over the Colour Riche. Oh well, I am just glad that I now have a new shade of lipstick that I'd like to wear everyday. So, what's your favorite lipstick?

Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer

One of the annoyances that winter brings is the uncomfortable dryness to the skin, especially the face. It gross me out to put pressed powder on my face only to see a cakey and dry face staring back at me in the mirror, lol! So I use an all-day moisturizer with SPF15 after I showered. But like I've mentioned in my previous post, I have a sensitive, acne-prone skin so not all moisturizer works for me. I also don't like the heavy and sticky feeling that some moisturizers leave on my face. I want something that's light yet does the job of keeping my face hydrated especially through the harsh winter days. I'm glad I found Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer. I usually bought mine at Costco because they seem to have a better deal as compared to other stores. What I love about this moisturizer is that it doesn't leave my face feeling greasy. I usually just put a few dots on both cheeks, tip of my nose, forehead and chin, then I rub it all in. Then finished it up with my ever favorite IN2IT powder foundation and I'm good to go. Plus it has SPF15 so if I go outside, I get some protection from the harmful UV rays. And the most important thing, it didn't cause breakouts so I think it's really a great affordable product to include in my simple facial regimen.

A cute purse for my sister.

This is a long overdue gift for my sister in Illinois. I've been meaning to send this in the mail along with other goodies which I got her when I was on vacation in the Philippines but I just hadn't been able to yet. Yeah, I know. I am big time procrastinator, lol! But I promise I am going to go to the post office on Monday so I can send this over. I know she loves handbags. Then I saw this cute purple Kathy Van Zeeland bag at Ross. I fell in love with it right away. I was almost tempted to keep it for myself but nah, I want to give her something that I personally want for myself. That way I can confidently say that I've given her something nice. After all, she said it herself that we have the same taste, lol! So I think she's going to be happy with my choice.

A Degree in Fashion

I’ve always admired people that were good in fashion and style. Fashion is a huge thing today where most people are now conscious with what they wear and most people keep up with the latest trends. I don't consider myself a “true-blue fashionista” in the right sense of the word, but I do love fashion and I try to look good and keep up with what’s in style. But I know there are a lot of people out there that are really fashionable without putting so much effort. I think they have an innate ability to transform anything simple and bland to something stylish, elegant and chic. But I guess there are some who may not be born with it but are determined to learn about it through schooling. It actually amazes me when I learned that there is a fashion design degree that one can get online for those individuals that are wanting to improve their craft in fashion, styling and design.

While it’s not a common program being offered in schools back in the country where I originally come from, but it’s not a new thing to have here in the U.S. As a matter of fact, world-renowned fashion designers in the likes of Stella McCartney, Donna Karan of DKNY, and Marc Jacobs didn’t just have the passion for their craft but they did work hard for it by going to a fashion school. Although, not all fashion students would end up lucky and famous like them, but by getting a fashion degree, you will be able to hone your talents in the industry and put a step closer to the highly-competitive world of fashion and design.

Just Me by Paris Hilton

Nope, I am not a Paris Hilton fan, lol! But I do think her "Just Me" perfume scent is awesome. It introduces trendy notes of cocktail of flowers and fruit, which will not leave you unnoticed. It  makes you smell very fresh and clean. During my recent PI vacation, I brought 2 bottles of these for my friend Joanne and my younger sister Jhazel. Then when I went back here, I saw this again at Ross at such a great price so I thought why not buy one for myself as well. So this is now my everyday scent, lol! The scent can be pretty strong and overpowering at first so I don't use too  much of it. Just a little splash goes a long way. This is perfect when I do grocery shopping, meet up with friends at casual get-togethers and sometimes even when I'm just at home fresh out of the shower, lol! This isn't my favorite "date night" scent though. But for only $15.00 dollars, I would definitely repurchase if I need to.

BaByliss Curling Iron

My hair has always been straight and medium-length. Some would think this is boring but you know I am just being cautious with my hair. I mean I find it really hard to try a different hairstyle. I'd rather stick to what I was comfortable with. But now that I've matured enough, lol, I find myself wanting to try having some curls with my hair. Since it's going to be the first time, I really don't know which curling iron would do the job for me. Fortunately, I got lucky I was given a nice curling iron for free by the people from Flat Iron Experts, along with a bunch of cool stuff like heat spray guard and shampoo.

I have been watching youtube videos on how to curl medium-length straight hair like mine. I know, I know, some of you might be laughing at me right now. But honestly, I have never tried it. And the last thing I would do is to get my fingers burn or worse scorched my hair. Once I find the perfect time to do this, I have to take photos and write a review on my other blog. I'm thinking this weekend would be perfect. I can't wait!
